Misc. Notes
A few facts about Thomas and Susannah are available from the will of Mary Peachy, Susannah’s sister, which was made in 1713 and probated in Canterbury, England in 1716. Mary, unmarried, was living in King and Queen County at the time she made the will, most likely with her sister; a time when she was apparently very ill. John Walker, Thomas’s father, was one of the witnesses to the signing of the will. Thomas and Susannah were executors of her estate and she left her assets to them and their infant children. The will was made before the birth of her nephew, Thomas Walker in 1715. Her niece Mary Peachy Walker received one slave, and “five Lottery Ticketts as I took out of the Exchequer numbered viz; 92567 : 92568 : 92569 : 92570 : and 9257, .... and Two Hundred Pounds Sterling to be paid her when she arrives at age”. To her nephew John Walker she gave one slave and “One Hundred Pounds Sterling to be paid him by my Executors out of my Mortgage that I have of Mrs. Mary Drys Haerdasher of Cracions Street London And all the rest of my Estate both real and personal of what kind or quality soever it be or wherever it lyes”. She also gave Thomas and Susannah one hundred pounds sterling and they were to share the remainder of her estate with their son John.
