Obituary in Richmond Times-Dispatch: Sunday July 21, 1935 p. A 12: Auto Crash Fatal To Betty Henley. Funeral to be Held Today at Home of Mrs. Waddill. Miss Betty Peachy Henley, member of a prominent Virginia Family, died at Grace hospital yesterday afternoon as the result of injuries she received in an automobile accident last Thursday. Funeral services will be held at 4 o’clock this afternoon from the home of her sister, Mrs. Samuel Pl Waddill, Hampton Gardens, with burial in Hollywood Cemetery. A native Virginian, Miss Henley was born at “Hillsboro,” King and Queen County, daughter of the late Joseph Temple Henley and Betty Todd Henley. She lived there until recetly when she made her hamoe with Mrs. Waddill here. surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Waddill and Mrs. James W. Ellyson of Richmond: two brothers, Charles Temple Henley of Winterpock and Hunter Henley of Atlanta.


Article in The Richmond News Leader Tuesday July 23, 1935 p. 2: Miss Wakkell Held In Accident Case Miss Emily Waddell, 52, of Hampton Gardens, driver of the machine incolved in a fatal crash last week at Monument avenue and Malvern street, was arrested last night, charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection with the death of Miss Betty P. Henley, also of Hampton Gardens, a passenger in the death car. Miss Henley died Saturday from a complication ofinjuries suffered in the wreck. Arraigned inpoice court today the case was continued until Jyly 30 by Justice Elben C. Folkes.
