As an adult resided at Mordington.
On September 26, 1790, Bruington Baptist Church ordained him at 21 as its first Pastor. He served for over 40 years, until his death. He is buried in the church cemetary. He is especially noted for his book, History of the Rise and Progress of the Baptists in Virginia, published in 1810. 34
